Seattle Sounders FC sign Christian Tiffert

RENTON, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC has signed German midfielder Christian Tiffert, the club announced today. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms were not disclosed. Tiffert will be added to the roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa. He will occupy one of three Designated Players slots on the Sounders FC roster following the trade of Alvaro Fernandez.    

Alvaro Fernandez traded to the Chicago Fire

RENTON, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC has traded midfielder Alvaro Fernandez to the Chicago Fire in exchange for allocation money, the club announced today.

Owner and General Manager Adrian Hanauer had some words to say about his departing player.

"We would like to thank Alvaro for his contributions to the club over the last two years and wish him well in the next chapter of his career with the Fire."

Berdi Şamyradow to Seattle?

   Major League Soccer has never had a player from Turkmenistan. The league has only had 14 players from 7 countries who are in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It "looks" like the Sounders have invited Turkmen internaitonal Berdi Şamyradow for a trial.

Fredy Montero to Bristol City FC?

   Once again, Fredy Montero is rumored to join English side, Bristol City FC. First rumored to join the second tier English side in June 2009 (and again), it appears Montero is once again rumored to join the South West England side.

Bosnian forward Ferid Celosmanovic to go on trial with the Sounders?

Monday update: It looks like it will be a one week trial at a "combine". Celosmanovic confirmed some details on his Twitter account (especially here). 

   It appears that a new trialist is heading to Seattle on a trial. Ferid Celosmanovic is a 23-year-old forward from Brcko, Bosnia has already received interest from the Sounders last December. The Bosnian born, German raiser foward has already said that "(Seattle) would be a great place to start a career".

Joan Verdu to Seattle in January 2013?

   Another week, another rumor. This time, 29-year-old Joan Verdu is rumored to join the Seattle Sounders FC in January 2013. The youth Spanish international is an alumni of La Masia, the FC Barcelona youth academy. The Spaniard currently plays for Espanyol, where he joined the club in 2009 from Deportivo de La Coruna.

Favrel Sivebæk: Sounders release Christian Sivebaek; sign Daniel Steres

   The Seattle Sounders FC signed defender Daniel Steres and waive midfielder Christian Sivebaek, the club announced today. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms were not disclosed.  

Seattle once again interested in Marcos Flores

   In May 2011, the Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers both sent a bid to Adelaide United for Marcos Flores. The 26-year-old Argentine decided to sign for Henan Jianye of China. Now, it appears that the Sounders are once again interested.

Christian Tiffert on his way to Seattle?

   It looks like 30-year-old German Christian Tiffert is on his way to Seattle to hold talks with the Sounders. The former German youth international currently plays for relegated Bundesliga club FC Kaiserlautern.
